 Mr Phillip Ndjendja
 Branch Manager: Oshakati
|
Oshakati was established, because it was regarded as
the main town in the northern region, where the majority of the Namibia
population lives. The town's proximity to Angola is of a strategic nature,
particularly since it is used as a gateway for trade through the Oshikango
border. Above all, the northern part of the country is regarded as the biggest
cash trading area in the country because of the high volumes of the national
currency in circulation.
Furthermore, this branch was established to provide
effective and efficient Central Banking services to the Commercial Bank
branches, Government departments operating in the north and the general public.
The Objectives of the Branch:
The Branch is entrusted with the task of ensuring that proper quality notes are
in circulation in the northern region as well as to ensure the availability of
sufficient currency stocks in the north through the branches of the commercial
banks.
The Objectives are:
To provide information to the general public on the
functions of the Bank of Namibia and in particular information pertaining to the
issuer of government securities and how the tender process in respect of
securities, works.
To promote a positive image of the Bank of Namibia
through forging closer working relationships and continuous interaction with
stakeholders for the purpose of better understanding of each other's
requirements.
To play a wider role than just providing banking services to our customers by assisting other departments within the Bank to obtain relevant information from the northern regions that they may require in the execution of their functions.
In attaining the above goals the Branch is contributing towards the achievement of the Bank of Namibia’s ultimate vision of becoming a “Centre of Excellence”.
